Both in scientific searches and in the related literature, Giresun is defined as the mother land of Cherry . Despite being the source of the name of the city, no trace of cherry is left in the minds of the people or on the earth of Giresun, except the one or two wild cherries found in the mountains and the sole tiller in the public square of the city planted by the Japanese Sagae City commissioners to thank Giresun that it made the world meet cherry.
Our documentary film will be a production that is based on the two different culture's way of thinking; on life and death in the scope of the relation of two cities with cherry: Giresun known as the mother land of cherry and Sagae identified with cherry. Cherry has very different meanings for the cherry breeders and the people of the two countries.
While the blossoming is celebrated every year with various facilities in Japan and while the breeders are working for years to grow the species; the breeding of the cherries is left to nature in Turkey , in Giresun which is said to be the motherland.
The relationship of Japanese people with cherry is deeply philosophical. We will try to consider the fact thoroughly in our documentary film along with the breeders in both countries, in the scope of the confliction between this philosophy which symbolizes the temporality and the fragility of life and the ignorance in our country.
The Documentary film is in the production development stage. |
